Obituary of David Graham Willey

March 1, 1961 – Grimsby, England

August 4, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

David Graham Willey of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 4, 2022, at the young age of 61.

Dave, husband, dad, brother, uncle, coach, and friend was born in Grimsby, England, and moved to Calgary with his family in 1973. He remained in Calgary, and it was here that he found his love of rocks and built a career within the oil and gas industry as a Geological Technologist. His other loves included many sports; he ran marathons, played volleyball, soccer, and biked. Most importantly, he enjoyed hot holidays where he could play paddle ball on the beach.

Dave was a kind and personable person. He loved life and tried to live it to the fullest, which was apparent when twice in his life he faced health events but took the challenges on without hesitation and with grace.

Dave is survived by his wife Cathy, two children, Tatum, and Liam; sisters Jennifer (Brian), Myra (David) of England, Liz (Jim), and Dianne of Calgary; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Olive, father Roy, and brother Paul.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Friday, August 12, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
