Obituary of Betty (Katherine Elizabeth) Sawyer

Betty Sawyer, beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the age of 93 years.
Betty was born and raised in Calgary. After many other endeavours, she found her calling, working for the Red Cross Blood Donor Clinic, where she made many lifelong friends.
Her zest for life, passion for travel and her infectious humour enriched all our lives. She was a dear friend to many and like a mother to countless others. Betty and Jack travelled to Europe, Hawaii and most especially, her favourite, Vegas!
Betty is lovingly remembered by her brother James Spencer (Dodie); daughters, Susan Herbert, and Beth Sawyer (Kris Pretty), and son Gordon Sawyer. She will also be missed by grandchildren: Bonnie Gratz (Derek), Christopher Herbert (Amy), Mitchell Herbert (Kara), Lonnie Herbert, Chelsea Sawyer, Kate Sawyer (Tino) and Yvonne Balanag, and great-grandchildren, Brock, Reid, Paige, Josh, Nico, Quincy, Lainie, Ricky, Lizzie, Georgia, Rocco, and Kryz. Betty will also be dearly missed by Cathy Seyler, Neale Denman, Ray Herbert, and Loida Balanag, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Betty was predeceased by her son John, sister Margaret, beloved son-in-law, David, and her dear partner Jack McCarthy. She was previously married to M.G. (Tom) Sawyer (deceased) for 25 years.
A private Celebration of Betty’s life will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
