Obituary of Michael Edward Manuel

January 5, 1942 – Niagara Falls, Ontario

August 14, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Michael Manuel, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at the age of 80 years.

Michael was born in Niagara Falls, ON, on January 5, 1942.  His working career made for stops in Montreal and Toronto, before settling in Acton, ON in 1975.  He also lived in Guelph, ON, before arriving in Calgary in 2017. Michael married Helen Gail Snodgrass in Niagara Falls, ON, in 1966.

He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion for several years, where he enjoyed socializing, playing 8-ball, snooker, cribbage, and euchre. Michael accomplished much throughout his life and was particularly proud of his professional sales awards at Mazda Canada.  He was liked by everyone he met and will be most remembered for his outgoing personality, sense of humour, and his smile.

Michael is survived by his son Mark Manuel, daughter-in-law Tracy Gilbert and grandson Peyton Manuel in Calgary, AB.  He was known as “Grandpa Mike” to Jolissa Gibson and Gavin Farr, as well as Emmerson and Oliver in Calgary, AB.  He is also survived by his daughter Michelle Manuel, son-in-law Allan Dunbar, and granddaughter Abbygail Dunbar in Fergus, ON, and granddaughters Alicia Spicer (husband Cameron) of Orleans, ON, and Trinity Manuel of Guelph, ON.  Michael was an only child and was predeceased by his father Edwin Alfred Manuel (2001) and mother Laurel Kathleen Manuel (nee Finch) (1993) of Chippawa, ON.
