Obituary of Sieuraji Ramsammy

August 15, 1932 – Georgetown, Guyana

August 15, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Angela (Sieuraji, Patty) Ramsammy, beloved wife of Gerald Ramsammy, of Calgary, AB, passed away on her 90th birthday, Monday, August 15, 2022, surrounded by her family’s love. She is missed dearly and is remembered as a generous woman, talented seamstress, incredible cook, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Angela was born in Georgetown, Guyana, on August 15, 1932, to Ramlakhan and Boodnie. She married Gerald Ramsammy on April 7, 1956, and together they raised their six children and many others who they welcomed into their home with open arms. Angela endeared herself to the people she met with her big heart, warm smile, gentle nature, and famous duck curry. She and Gerald saw the good in everyone and were loved by their many friends, who often filled their home with laughter. They set a wonderful example for their children by embracing people from all walks of life.

She later lived in both Calgary, AB, and Dallas, TX, where she was always present for her adoring grandchildren, lovingly playing with them, feeding them, and caring for them. She continued to embrace the joy in life, crafting and playing cards with the ladies in her building, and going on trips to the Caribbean, the US, Radium, Vancouver, and countless road trips to Banff.

Angela is cherished and lovingly remembered by many, including her husband Gerald Ramsammy, who unfailingly stood by her side and cared for her until her final moments; their children Kathleen (Krishna) Singh, Jacqueline (Roy) Etwaroo, Andrew (Seelochnie) Ramsammy, Jennifer (Greg) Sande, Janice (Ralph) Studden, and Bernadette (Christopher) Persaud; their grandchildren Dane (Allison), Davana (Hardeep), Christopher, Michelle (John), Kaydia (Kenny), Caitlin (Eric), Randhir (Esha), Natasha, Julia (Sunjeet), Sushil, and Ketan; and their great-grandchildren, Lauryn, Vera, Kannan, Kaia, and Ivie.
