Obituary of Isaac Moses Rotstein

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Isaac Moses Rotstein, husband of 51 years to Linda Rotstein (Switzer), father to Gena Rotstein, Kim Nagan (Richard Nagan) and Sam Rotstein, and Zaida to Liam and Seth Nagan, and Jonah and Oren MacGregor. Isaac was predeceased by his parents, Fivel and Genia Rotstein, brother Israel Rotstein, and sister Judith Rotstein-Davidson.

Isaac was born in 1947 in a DP Camp in Heidelberg, Germany. He immigrated to Canada in 1950 where his family established their home in Calgary. Isaac graduated from both UofC with a Zoology degree and UBC with a degree in Pharmacy. He owned a pharmacy in Mission, Calgary.

A love of travel to exotic places, especially ones where the plant picking season was in full bloom, Isaac never missed an opportunity to travel with a suitcase of newspapers to press plants, his hiking boots and a knapsack that was close to 100 pounds.

His true joy was spending time with his grandsons. They had special moments together that will be lasting memories for the entire family – science experiments, bike rides, playing chess, solving complex math problems, and kicking a ball in the soccer field.

Thank you to the doctors, nurses, and nurse’s aides in Unit 57 at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre.

Funeral Services will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, (North East Corner of Highway 22X & 37 Street SW) on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at 37 Street Cemetery.
