October 22, 1969 - Nassau, Bahamas

August 28, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

With deep sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Brandt Summers on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at the age of 52 years.

Brandt leaves behind his loving wife Lynn, his amazing children Julia and Isaac, his dog Louie, as well as his mother, Suzette Summers-Abbott, father, Gerald Summers, and brother, Lance Summers.  Brandt was a devoted husband and father, he always put his family first and was incredibly proud of his children. Brandt loved life; his sparkling eyes and big smile were always on display. He was positive, generous and had the patience of a saint and whose kindness knew no bounds.

Brandt was born in Nassau, Bahamas, and made his way to Canada in 1975. He was a competitive swimmer in his youth, participating and competing for the Cascade Swim Club and the University of Calgary, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Brandt touched many lives and enjoyed sharing his passion for sports.  As a youth basketball coach, he had the ability to simplify and communicate plays in a fun and easy manner that was able to get the best out of each player. He had a great connection with kids making each player feel special.

Brandt was a very proud WestJetter. He worked for WestJet in a variety of roles, each with increasing responsibility, which allowed him to share his humour, wit, and remarkable organization and communication skills.

Brandt loved nature, gardening, camping and the outdoors.  There was nothing more that Brandt enjoyed than sharing laughs with family and friends and a good beer.  Please raise a toast to Brandt with your favourite beverage!

The family will be hosting a Celebration of Brandt’s Life at a later date. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada, #270, 2323 – 32nd Avenue N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 6Z3 Telephone: (403) 265-9039, www.childrenswish.ca.
