Obituary of Mary Kutzan

Mary Kutzan of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022, at the age of 91 years.

Mary was born in Regina, SK, on April 8, 1931 and moved to Calgary in 1949 at the age of eighteen. She started working to set up a life in Calgary and supported her sister Nancy with her move to Calgary in 1954 when she was sixteen. Mary started her oil career with Western Decalta in 1957 and joined Suncor in 1964 where she moved up to her final position as executive assistant.

She was a long-time volunteer with the Foothills Hospital Emergency department as well as the Foothills Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.

Mary accomplished much through her life and career and treasured her time with her sister and all her nieces and nephews and their children.

She will be most remembered for her kindness and compassion for others as well as her inner strength and determination to keep going no matter what physical limitations she had.

Mary is survived by her sister Nancy Cox (Harry), nieces Leslie Geiger (Phil), Renee Carr (Ray), Sherry Cox, and nephew Kirby Cox (Audrey) and their children and grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at Foothills Lutheran Church (3104 – 34th Avenue N.W., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
