Condolences
Matt was an incredible doctor that fought for his patients when they needed help.He will be forever in my memory as a warrior.
He told me many stories of how certain Industry people were attempting to intimidate him but, of course, he didn't intimidate.
He had a love of the arts and with me being in radio, we hit it off out of the gate. I enjoyed a great bond with this man and he went out of his way to help people.
One of the rare good ones in our world today.

Querido Matt:
Tu hermana, Fifi
I'm sorry to hear this news; Matt was very kind and thoughtful. A family friend to me, he went above and beyond to help my Aunt Pat when she was diagnosed with cancer.
Even though it wasn't in his area of expertise, he did extensive research and petitioned the Alberta Medical Board for a new form of treatment, which he patiently administered at the Holy Cross Hospital, outside his regular practice. Under his care, my Aunt lived an additional six years — long enough to experience the births of many of her grandchildren.
Condolences to his sister Carina, husband John and family.
I would like to express my deepest condolences for your loss. I have have been privileged to know him since moving to Calgary 35 years ago as a very new doctor and he provided compassionate and expert mentorship in caring for patients. He was a brilliant and even more important, a very kind man.

Dear Jeanette and family,
The world and I are so saddened by the loss of one of our best humans. Matt was such a joy to be around. His love of life and learning and nature and famiy and fine food was contagious. He leaves a legacy of interconnectness. Anyone who ever met Matt is better off for knowing him. I will always cherish the video he made of my daughter getting sprayed by an ocelot in Costa Rica, and fondly remember the grace with which he climbed back into the river raft after getting thrown out in the rapids. As a doctor and a teacher, he was unparalleled, and he will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve and remember.
With much love and respect, Dr Ellie Campbell (Aflanta GA USA)

So sorry for your loss. I know the reason I'm still alive today is because of Dr. vanOlm...such a wonderful gentle person.
What a loss… I’m so sorry to hear of Dr VanOlms passing. He was the doctor who ultimately saved me and took the time to figure out my plight. I was a young 20 year old women who couldn’t breathe. Dr Van Olm spend hours talking thru my fears, referring me to additional experts, following up, meeting with my parents and stuck with me thru all my follow ups and recovery. I went and visited him years later when I became a mother to say thank you, for his care as I wouldn’t have had the same future without him. He is a cherished man in my life and I will always be thankful for his care. Sending love to all who knew this special person.

Jeanette and family,
I am so sorry to hear that Matt passed away. I first met Matt when I was an intern and he was a pulmonary fellow before he went into practice. He made a lasting impression on me by sitting down and taking the time to teach me while demonstrating compassion and expertise. He was a great colleague. He will be greatly missed. I hope that your family will eventually find solace.
Condolences
Dr Soriano, my sincere condolences to you and your family. Dr van Olm helped me with my pulmonary condition at a time when I had small children. His care, and yours, put me into remission, I still am, so I could be the active mother I wanted to be. He is a great loss to many but especially to you and your sons. My thoughts are with you during this time.
Dear Jeanette and family,
I met Dr. VanOlm in 1982 at the Holy Cross Emergency Department,... a nurse keen to learn from one of our best! Our careers continued to cross paths for over 35 years. Matt never gave less than 100% in trying to cure/improve his patients' health. He shared his knowledge, genuineness, compassion, and sense of humor with all who worked with him and those who were fortunate enough to receive his care.
I am deeply saddened for your loss. My thoughts are with you all.
