Obituary of Joyce Connatty

July 2, 1939 – Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan

September 26, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Joyce Connatty (nee Steinke), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022, at the age of 83 years.

Joyce is survived by her husband of more than 60 years Barry; their two children, Tracey Connatty of Olds, AB and Bradley Connatty of Calgary, AB, and their one grandson and his wife Neil Connatty  and Hillary Hurst of Vancouver, BC.  She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Don Reineke and their child Trent of Stewartburn, MB; brothers and sisters-in-law, Grant and Evelyn Steinke and their children, Phillip and Adele of Edmonton, AB, and Sheldon and Elaine Steinke and their children Natasha and Lance of Crowsnest Pass, AB.

When Joyce wasn’t making wonderful meals or baking delicious treats, she enjoyed her creative hobbies. Her endless energy infused her many crafty pursuits, such as making more than 100 quilts donated to families in need. Joyce also loved the outdoors. In addition to camping, picnicking, and hiking, she volunteered many hours with the Cross Conservation Organization. At home, her green thumb resulted in numerous very healthy plants and a perpetual backyard garden plot that produced delicious fresh food in which even the local rabbits indulged.

It was Joyce’s wish to forgo a formal service. The family is planning a celebration of life in the spring. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
