September 26, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Daniel “Dan” G. Olenick on Monday, September 26, 2022, at the age of 72 years.

Dan was born on July 10, 1950, in Saskatoon, SK, the eldest son of Peter and Eileen (nee Novakowski) Olenick.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Maria Di Palma-Olenick (nee Quattrucci). Dan is survived by his brother Patrick Olenick; sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Jim Stewart; nephews, Timothy and Vanessa Justinen, and Landon and Christine Justinen; step-niece Jennifer Lovaghy and her son Logan; step-son Marcel and his wife Lorena Di Palma, and their children, Michaella, Isabella, Antonella; step-son Bruno and his wife Annette Di Palma, and their children, Nicholas and Matthew.

Dan grew up as an “air force brat” living in Germany, France, and across Canada. He maintained his love for traveling both professionally and privately. He enjoyed several careers over the years that took him across many provinces, which included security, policing, mining, and finally the oil and gas industry in Calgary.

His greatest love and pride was for his wife Maria and his step-family. Dan will be remembered for his kind heart and quiet sense of humour.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB). A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Queen’s Park Mausoleum. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
