Obituary of Maria Di Tosto

Maria Di Tosto, beloved wife of Pietro Di Tosto, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at the age of 86 years with family by her side.

 

Maria was born in Bagnoli del Trigno, Italy, on May 30, 1936. She moved to Calgary from Italy in 1956, where she then married Pietro in June.

 

Maria and Pietro moved to Burnaby, BC in 1957. In April they were blessed with their first-born son, Giovanni. In Burnaby they were surrounded with loving family and lots of friends. After 12 years, they came back to Calgary and were blessed with a second child, Rosina.

 

Maria will be mostly remembered by her love for her children, grandchildren, family, and God. She was a devoted Nonna.

 

Besides her loving husband Pietro, Maria is survived by her daughter Rosina (Gianni) Gallotta; daughter-in-law Giuliana; her grandchildren Emilio, Carlo, Jesse (Amanda), Jeremy (Caterina), and Chase (Lindsay), and great grandchildren Giovanni, Mateo, Kaya, and Marcus. She is also survived by her sister Rosina Salina and numerous nephews, nieces, and extended family.

 

She was predeceased by her son Giovanni Di Tosto, her father Nunzio, mother Adelina, sister Nina, brothers Giuseppe and Olindo; brother-in-law Agostino Salina.

 

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Marks Catholic Church (5552 Madigan Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Eastside, McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes (5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB).
