Obituary of Nanci Marie McLennan

April 3, 1949 - Windsor, Nova Scotia

October 4, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Nanci McLennan beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at the age of 73 years.

Nanci was born in Windsor, Nova Scotia on April 3, 1949. She moved to Toronto, Ontario in 1971 and moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1989.

Nanci always said she graduated from the School of hard knocks. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She also loved her Ballroom Dance community.

Nanci had a great smile and she made many people feel loved. Fancy Nanci, as she was affectionately known to some, loved to dress nice, wear lipstick and was a serious cat lover. Her great passion was dancing and she longed to dance the Viennese Waltz in Vienna. Her family was her greatest joy and blessing.

A quote that she loved is: “Life isn’t about waiting for the storms to pass, it’s learning to dance in the rain.”

Nanci is survived by her daughter, Natalie (Kelvin) Burton of Raymond, AB; and sons, Craig (Amber) McDonald and Randy (Kerry) McDonald both of Calgary, AB; her grandchildren: Jordan Burton, Adam Burton, Denon Burton, Laura Burton, Alex McDonald, Phoenix McDonald, Asyja Klaiber, Noodin Owens and Alascka Klaiber; great-grandchildren: Bentley Hingley and Jasper Marshall-McDonald. Along with many other “borrowed” grandchildren and great-grandchildren considered family. Nanci is also survived by her sisters, Marilyn (Leon) Ray of Penticton BC, Gloria Gilbert of Lockeport NS and Susan Calnen of Elmsdale NS.  

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday October 15, 2022 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (2526 24 Ave NW Calgary, Alberta) at 2:00 pm. Those unable to attend can join the service at https://zoom.us/j/92284441390#success
