Obituary of Richard Brent Albert Arnold

June 18, 1946 – Victoria, British Columbia

October 7, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Richard “Rick” Arnold, beloved husband of Marguerite Arnold, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022, at the age of 76 years, having suffered from an arduous and painful journey with Frontal Temporal Dementia.

 

Richard was born in Victoria, BC on June 18, 1946, to Vivien and Dennett Arnold. The family moved to Halifax, Cornwallis, Saskatoon, and finally to Winnipeg due to his father's affiliation with the Navy. Richard graduated from the University of Manitoba with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He spent his career in the Oil and Gas industry in various locations in Alberta, Chicago, Lubbock Texas, and Farmington New Mexico. He and Marguerite were married in Lubbock in 1995.

 

He was a member of various organizations including, APPEGA, Calgary Corvette Club, Conservative Party of Canada where he made many cherished lifelong friends. Richard accomplished much throughout his life and was particularly proud of owning and restoring Corvettes which gave him countless hours of enjoyment. Richard loved his Corvettes, golf, hunting, travel, and vacationing in the Palm Desert.

 

He will be most remembered for his dedication to achieving perfection in all he did.

Besides his loving wife, Richard is survived by his sister Cheryl Friedenthal (Steven) of St. Albert, AB, their children, and their families, as well as Richard Arnold JR and his family. Also mourning his loss are Marguerite's sons, Mark and Jason Gillespie, and their families.
