Obituary of Dorothy Agnes MacKenzie

Dorothy MacKenzie of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at the age of 91 years.

After graduation, Dorothy worked in the finance department of a major jeweller where she would meet and marry her one and only, Arthur Duncan Mackenzie (Art).  Out of this love, Daneal, Dallas, and Donnie were born.

Moving to the suburbs of Willow Park in the early 60s, Dorothy found her heaven on earth.  In the spring and summer, she was always in the yard with her flower gardens.  Winter was not Dorothy’s friend.

Even though she adored her little house, it would just take one word from Art, to pack up the kids and head off to another road trip adventure.  Her mother once told her that you are giving those children a million dollars worth of memories - she was right!

The one thing in life that truly mattered to Dorothy was her family; they were her heart.  More than anything, she loved having all her family around for one of her dinners (an amazing cook). Dinner would be followed by silly board games that made her laugh so hard she would be in tears.

Those who knew her knew what a strong woman she was!

Dorothy is survived by her daughters (Daneal McGeein and Dallas Gallant), sons-in-laws (Van McGeein and Ray Gallant) Grandsons Jason MacKenzie and Dylan McGeein (Dalyce McGeein) and Great Grandkids, Kaden, Watson and Olivia and close family friends, Jim Schwab, Steve, Karen, and Kennedy Burke.

Dorothy is also survived by her younger brother Roy Couch of Victoria BC.  

Dorothy was predeceased by her cherished son Donnie, her beloved soul mate, Arthur and her big brother, William Couch.

In lieu of Flowers please donate to a charity close to your heart.   Next spring plant some flowers in your yard that will attract butterflies, they were mom’s favourite.

A Private Celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at a later date.
