Obituary of Pat Klinck

November 9, 1938 - Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

October 10, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Audrey Agnes Klinck after a long and difficult battle with Parkinson's Disease .

Pat was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan but raised in Edmonton.  After obtaining her B.A. in honours French (U of Alberta), she went on to teach at schools in Tournon, France, Edmonton, Calgary, and Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia.  After teaching, Pat obtained her PhD (U of Calgary) and held senior management positions with School Boards in Calgary and St. Albert before setting up a consulting company, Key Links International Ltd., which ultimately brought her to Australia.

Pat lived life with a passion for travel, climbing and hiking (and riding horses) in the Banff area as well as hiking in Switzerland, with her then husband, Ernst Enns. That passion also included great music, particularly opera, fine food, great wine and scotch.  Throughout her life, Pat loved and owned both horses and cats. She was blessed with many great and loyal friends in Canada, France, and Australia. She was also the author of a book entitled "Each Step is the Journey, The Call of the Camino".

Pat survived by her brother Jack (Judith) and her nephew Jason (Bernice), niece Leanne (Peter), her grand-nieces, Salma and Grace, and grand-nephew, Max; she was predeceased by her parents John and Audrey.

A Private Celebration of Patricia’s Life will be held. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with Patricia’s family here.

In lieu of flowers you might make a donation to either Parkinson Canada (https://www.parkinson.ca/)  or The Brenda Strafford Foundation (https://www.thebsf.ca/).  The former charity funds research into Parkinson's and the latter charity is responsible for Cambridge Manor.  When we started collecting funds for a bike for Pat and the other Parkinson patients at Cambridge, the physio staff recommended a much more expensive bike than we had contemplated. Once all our donations had been summed up, the Strafford Foundation was good enough to top up the donations (which was way more than our contributions) so that we could afford to get the better bike. In fact, as Pat's mobility decreased over time, the bike they recommended was the only one Pat could have used at that time.

In living memory of Dr. Patricia Klinck, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB T3G 2T3, Telephone: 403-241-0044.
