Obituary of Michael Frederick Lammiman

May 21, 1970 – Sioux Lookout, Ontario

October 30, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Michael “Mike” Lammiman, beloved husband of Elizabeth “Liz” Madruga, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at the age of 52 years.

Mike was born in Sioux Lookout, ON, on May 21, 1970, he moved to Calgary, AB, in 1978. Mike graduated from Lord Shaughnessy High School in 1989. On July 28, 2012, Mike and Liz were married.

Mike worked in and around Calgary as a commercial cook, and forklift operator, as well as a general labourer for many local businesses. He was a true member of Calgary; notably, Mike received an award in 2013 for his clean-up efforts downtown after the flood. It was then he had the honour of meeting Chris Hadfield.

Mike accomplished much throughout his life, but he was particularly proud of his Cannabis Tours and COOP. Mike was the founder of the Cross Canada Cannabis Tour in 2019, the Cross-Country Cannabis Tour USA in 2020, the Cross Canada Cannabis Cultivation COOP in 2021, and Mike’s Magic Edibles in 2021. Mike also had a passion for cultivation and cannabis medications. He often spent time online hosting information and educational sessions on how to grow and care for cannabis and other plants. Mike would also teach cooking classes online for those interested in making edibles and other fine foods.

Mike loved going on vacation and other adventures on Vancouver Island. He would often help out the local homeless population and people struggling, in and around Calgary, and other cities in Canada with cannabis, food, hygiene items, clothing, and shoes. Mike would also use his online platforms to raise awareness for other local charities and not-for-profit organisations. Mike was very proud of the summer he spent working in Fairy Creek on Vancouver Island, BC, to help Indigenous Peoples defend and protect the ancient forests.

The one thing Mike cherished the most was his family, whom he loved and who will sorely miss him. He will be mostly remembered for his big heart and willingness to help anyone in need and his kind humble demeanour. We cannot leave out the Cannabis Culture that he had embraced and those who embraced him because of his generosity and big personality. Mike was well known among influencers of the cannabis community that loved, supported, and admired him because of the genuine love and caring and respect he showed to everyone.

Mike is survived by his wife Liz, and their children, Spencer Lammiman and fiancé Quinn Wells (Calgary, AB), Leah and Mikah Lammiman (Calgary, AB), step-daughter Erica Lynn Deslippe and granddaughter Sophia Isabella Oppen (Winsor, ON); foster children, Jeremiah Cyril Flamand (Calgary, AB), Brittany Outram (Calgary, AB), and Gabriele Outram (Calgary, AB); and parents, Fred and Marg Lammiman (Okotoks, AB).
