Obituary of Kathleen Dorothy MacDonald

July 17, 1930 - Consul, Saskatchewan

November 6, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Kathleen MacDonald of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 6 at the age of 92 years, with family by her side.

Kathleen graduated in 1951 from the Edmonton General Hospital as a Lab Technician, a profession she much enjoyed. She will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul who was always involved and attentive to her extended family. She watched and participated in the growth of the family members and celebrated their milestones.  Kathleen had a sharp memory and never forgot a birthday. She had a wry and quick sense of humor, and she smiled and laughed with ease.

Kathleen faced the many challenges in her life with dignity, patience, and without complaint. Her faith was important to her and helped carry her through life. Musically untrained, she could play any piece of music on the piano by ear after hearing only once.

Kathleen was one of the longest-term residents at Mount Royal Care Center, having resided there for the past 22 years. She was appreciative of the staff, many who became friends, and de facto family.

Kathleen is loved and survived by many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews throughout Alberta, Nova Scotia, and British Columbia. Kathleen was predeceased by her parents, Sam and Rose MacDonald, and siblings, Marguerite, Steve, and Mary.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1307 – 14th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed at here.
