Obituary of Fran Hurley

Frances Hurley of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at the age of 74 years.
Frances was born in Fredericton, NB, on February 2, 1948. She moved to Calgary in 1986. She worked at the Alberta Children's Hospital for more than 25 years, working her way up to Receiving Clerk. After the birth of her daughter, she volunteered for many situations and organizations, involving her daughter, including taking part in the very first Terry Fox run and being Snowy Owl for Brownies.
Frances lived for her family, especially her grandsons and daughter. Frances’ favourite song was “You are my sunshine”, which she regularly sang to her daughter and grandsons. She will be most remembered for her loving nature and her willingness to look silly to elicit a smile.
Frances is survived by her daughter Tina of Calgary, AB, and her grandsons, Ryan Wagar, Bailey Wagar, and Griffin Wagar, all of Calgary, AB. She is also survived by her sister Elsie Thompson (Harold) of Calgary, AB, and by her brother Michael Derry; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins, and friends, and the Hurley family.
Frances was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Elizabeth Derry of New Brunswick, and her brothers, Frankie Derry (Edith) and Ronnie Derry (Sherry).
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
