Obituary of Steven Wilson Casey

December 21, 1985 – St. John, New Brunswick

November 7, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

After a prolonged battle with depression and mental health issues, Steve Casey died by suicide Monday, November 7, 2022, at the age of 36 years. He lived a very private life, and no one knew the extent of the demons he battled or the darkness he faced when alone.

Steve loved craft beers and was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan. He also enjoyed playing video games and creating hand-painted World of Warcraft figurines and scenes. He was a skilled custom cabinetry maker and carpenter who took great pride in his work.

Nothing in this world gave Steve more joy than being Uncle for Zaiden and Brody. It brought him immense happiness to always bring the best gifts and the coolest toys.

Steve was deeply and unconditionally loved by his parents, Janice (Allen)Wesley and Dave (Sherri) Casey; sister Megan (Jason D’Souza), nephews, Zaiden and Brody, and numerous aunts, uncles & cousins throughout Canada. He was an incredibly loving, loyal friend to all who knew him. The combined power of our blended family and our unwavering acceptance and support for our son allowed Steve to be who he was. He was loved deeply and will be missed terribly. We take comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering.

A Celebration of Steve’s Life will be held at Craft Beer Market-upstairs, (South Centre Mall, 100 Anderson Rd SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Please wear your favourite team jersey or a plaid flannel shirt.
