Obituary of Ilona Varga

Ilona Varga (nee Kovacs), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022, at the age of 85 years.

Ilona was born in Várpalota, Veszprém Hungary on February 13, 1937. She immigrated to Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in December 1956. Ilona married Antal (Tony) Varga Sr. in 1957. Ilona loved to be with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Ilona’s most memorable vacation was when she visited family back in Hungary. She will be most remembered for her time spent helping at the Calvin Hungarian Presbyterian Church and raising her family.

Ilona is survived by her daughter and two sons, Nancy, Tony, and Steven; grandchildren, Beth and Ronin, great-grandchildren, Alexis and Jordan whom all reside in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Ilona is also survived by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Ilona was predeceased by her daughter Mary Helen Varga.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
