Helen Negrave (nee Guerin) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022, at the age of 82 years.

 

Helen born December 17, 1939, in Calgary. She attended Haultain School and Crescent Heights High School.

 

In her youth, Helen’s passion was music. She enjoyed sharing her vocal talents with numerous choirs as well as being a soloist.  In 1953, she was the youngest student to attend the Banff School of Fine Arts in the Music Department. Helen was awarded many scholarships and bursaries.  She taught singing for several years.

 

Helen devoted many years as a volunteer. Being a Girl Guide Leader, Director for the Whitehorn and Arbour Lake Community Associations. One of her highlights of volunteering was being the co-chairperson for the opening of Confederation Park in 1967. Helen worked as a secretary in the Oil Industry, also for the Calgary Board of Education and other office positions. After her retirement, she devoted much of her time to volunteering.

 

Helen met the love of her life, Larry in 1959 and was married in 1961. They enjoyed sixty-two wonderful years together travelling to many different areas of the world.

 

She is survived by her loving daughter Nancy (Craig) Cathers, son Brian Negrave, and the special joys of her life, her grandchildren Kristen, and Shawn (Aaron) Cathers; and great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, and Jack Cathers. She also leaves behind her brothers-in-law, Larry Androsoff, and Peter Negrave; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Larry this past July, her mother Muriel Guerin in 1979, and sister Evelyn Morrison in 1996.
