Obituary of Howard Robert Hawley

June 10, 1956 - St. Boniface, Manitoba

November 23, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Howard “Rob” Hawley beloved husband of Nona Hawley (nee Corlett) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at the age of 66 years.

Rob was born in St. Boniface, MB, on June 10, 1956. He went to Windsor Elementary and RD Parker in Thompson, MB. He worked for awhile for a few different airlines in Northern Manitoba.

Rob’s childhood was spent at the outdoor hockey rink or the ball diamonds. The Hawley brothers enjoyed rough housing until their mom sent them outside.

Rob married Nona in December 1984. In 1998, his daughter Alexandra came into his life, and she was the light of his life.

Rob enjoyed painting, music, photography. Rob loved the Blues. One of his favourite places to go was the Old King Eddie on Saturdays with his Brother-in-Law, Bob. He also enjoyed Sunday drives with Nona in the El Camino. One of his favourite places was the Waterton area in Alberta. Rob’s passion was curling.  Throughout his 41 years at the Calgary Winter Club, he was able to curl three to four times a week.

Rob had a few favourite sayings, most of which cannot be printed here, but if he gave you a double tap with his broom when curling, it was a good shot.

Besides his loving wife Nona, Rob is survived by his daughter Alexandra (Samara); sister Pat (John) Wiebe; brothers, Tom (Gitte) and Curtis (Christine); two nephews, Chris (Janet) Wiebe and Andrew (Tia) Wiebe; great-nephews, Quinton and Harrison; and two great nieces, Rory and Paige. Rob was predeceased by his parents, Ellen and Howard.

He was one of the good ones.

In living memory of Rob Hawley, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Heritage, 1708 – 16th Avenue NW, Calgary, AB, T2M 0L7, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
