Condolences
Grandma was always such a character! I remember visiting her and grandpa in Calgary as a little girl, and laughing at all her one liners. One of the ones that sticks out in my memory was her threat for punishment as being "50 lashes with a wet noodle" lol. She would hug and snuggle me while repeating "never let you go, never let you go". She loved when I would comb her hair at night and we would always enjoy an after eight chocolate...but only AFTER 8pm. I loved all her baking and cooking. She sure had a way of showing her love through food. Her and grandpa made quite the impact in my life and I am so grateful for my memories <3
Our Dear Auntie Annie was our Mom's youngest sibling and like all our aunts and uncle she was very special to me. Annie was only 13 years my senior and we were very close. My happiest childhood memories are of being at Postnikoff's and enjoying the warmth and love of the family. Annie was playful and full of fun. If I was wearing the skirt with the wide elastic waist band Annie would pull it every chance she got and we would howl with laughter. She had nick-names for us. Mine was "Cookie" and Peter's, "Dog Biscuit". When I was about six or seven Irene and Annie started taking me down to the river to cool off on hot, sunny days.
That was my first chance to learn to swim. We would make regular visits to Grandmas' and have special meals on holidays. Uncle John would play his guitar or mandolin and we would all sing together. Songs I remember were "Wild-wood Flower" and "Like a Bird". Later my aunts and I would often sing during our phone chats.
As I was growing up, when our Mom wasn't well Annie would come over and help us with the house work. She was always concerned for our well-being.
When Annie moved to Calgary to work she sent me a beautiful dress and lovely coral car coat for school. Clothes like those were not available in Castlegar.
When I was fourteen Annie and Mike invited me to Calgary for a visit. We went to the Stampede, Zoo, Banff and Lake Louise.
That was very exciting for me as I hadn't been far from home.
Wherever I lived as an adult, Annie and Mike always visited. My Daughter Lena remembers them pulling up in our Parksville driveway in their snazzy, red car sporting the Nose Bra!
More recently our visiting was by phone. Annie and I both enjoyed "Words" and had fun with Puns. Annie liked to keep her mind sharp by learning and using new vocabulary. I remember her saying how much she enjoyed helping out in her kid's classrooms when they were young.
She was a great Sports Fan and supported her teams most enthusiastically!
Whenever I visited on Robson Crescent I saw how tidy a house keeper she was.
I complimented her on her sparkling faucets and taps and awhile later a photo arrived, taken by Mike of Annie polishing the faucets. It is still on my fridge and always makes me smile.
Thank you Dear "Tyota" not "Toyota" for all your caring and loving ways. You will stay in my Heart Forever.
May you Rest In Peace.
Your Loving Niece

Our Memory of Anne
Anne was a good friend to me as well as Sister-in Law to us both. She was always ready for a good chat and loved to talk about her family with animation and pride. Although she was a not so silent member of the “Silent Generation”, she surely possessed the characteristics of that generation. Those being thrifty, respectful, loyal and determined. Even though the miles usually separated us, I will miss her quick wit and ability to reminisce with detail over the phone. Please accept our sincere sympathy in the passing of now, your second parent, but also be thankful because you possess the example and some characteristics of these amazing parents which will serve you well in life. You have been well loved. We pray God’s peace, joy and blessing on you all.
