Obituary of Harold Tilman Amstutz

Harold Amstutz, beloved husband of Lori Amstutz (nee Friesen), of Calgary, AB passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at the age of 60 years.

Harold was born in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, India on November 1, 1962.  He moved to Canada with his parents, Kenneth, and Viola Amstutz when he was four and a half years old. They eventually settled in Three Hills, Alberta where Harold spent most of his formative years. Harold graduated from Prairie High School in Three Hills in 1979. After graduation he embarked on a career in the Motorcycle Industry in Calgary where he worked for several years. He met his wife Lori in 1981 and they were married in May of 1983. Together they had three beautiful children. Sean Michael, born in 1985, Tammy Lorraine, born in 1987, and Kenton David, born in 1989.

Harold returned to college in 1990 and graduated in 1993 with a degree in Church Music.  He accepted a position in Big Lake, Minnesota at Riverside Alliance Church where he served as Music Pastor and later, Senior Pastor through to 2003.  After that he pursued a new ministry in Vancouver, Washington. By 2007, Harold and his family returned to Canada and settled in Calgary. In 2012 Harold joined Lori to help her build their business together working on pianos.

Harold enjoyed the outdoors.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter.  He also loved sports and played both football and hockey. Harold and Lori enjoyed traveling and were able to visit some amazing places such as Ireland, the Grenadines, the Czech Republic, and Hawaii but their most memorable trip was returning to India to visit the place where Harold was born.

Harold is survived by his wife, Lori (nee Friesen), son Sean, daughter Tammy (John), and grandsons, Barrett and Kenton (Maggie). Harold is also survived by his father Kenneth (May) and his sister Marguerite Watmough (Darren) and their two sons, Daniel Watmough and Nicholas Watmough all residing in Calgary.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road, SE, Calgary, AB on Monday, December 12, 2022, at 2:00 pm.  Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.  Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Harold Amstutz’s service streamed live below on the day of the service.
