Obituary of Michael John Bishop

Michael Bishop, of Calgary, AB, passed away, at AgeCare Midnapore, on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at the age of 77 years.
Michael was an only child, born in Axminster, England on April 30, 1945. He moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1984. Michael graduated from Exeter Technical College and Plymouth Polytechnique with diplomas in Civil and Highway engineering. He was a member of the Ministry of Civil and Highway Engineers in the U.K. Michael married Marie Whiteway in 1977, and moved to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
Michael accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his road designs just outside Calgary and the surrounding areas with Alberta Transportation and AECOM. Michael had a passion for soccer and was a referee in Canada and England. He was a lifelong Arsenal supporter. He will be remembered for some of his notorious jokes and puns, with a very sarcastic sense of humour.
Michael is survived by his son Steve, and his daughter-in-law Tamara. He was predeceased by his wife Marie who passed away in 1997. Michael suffered with Parkinson’s Disease for over twenty years. He had been cared for by the kind workers of AgeCare Midnapore over the last few years.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
