Obituary of Olga Jones

July 11, 1929 – Vegreville, Alberta

December 13, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Olga Jones (nee Ewasiuk) of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at the age of 93 years.

Olga was born in Vegreville, AB and grew up on her parents farm in Two Hills, AB. She briefly lived in Edmonton and worked as a stenographer. She met Roy and they were married in Edmonton in 1949 before moving to Calgary. In 1956 she and her family moved to a 480 acre dairy farm near DeWinton, AB. Olga lived there most of her adult life, not including five exciting years in Brazil from 1958 to 1963.

She led a full and busy life. She was a very good cook, and her favourite was cooking for the weekly family Sunday dinner. She was an accomplished musician; playing piano, guitar, accordion, ukulele and harmonica. Other pasttimes included painting, gardening, travelling, playing bridge, reading and long walks with Roy around the farm. Above all her love of family shone. She always made sure that everything was right with us. She will truly be missed forever.

She will be remembered by her sons, Hal (Dawn) and John (Angela), daughter, Lynn (Gene); her sisters; Rose, Lena and Sonja; her grandchildren, Julian, Angela, (Shashi), Matt, TJ (Michelle), Garth (Marni), Lianne, Tania (Chris), Rhys, and Chase; her great grandchildren, Viola, Arlo, Jack, Finn, Ellis, Sydney, Ty, Tanner and Parker. As well as many neices, nephews, and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Roy.

There will be no formal ceremony; a small private service for immediate family will be held at a later date.

In living memory of Olga Jones, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, Ab t2x 3j3, Telephone: 403-256-9575.
