Obituary of Wanda Elaine Kemp

November 21, 1954 – Sooke, British Columbia

December 19, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Wanda Elaine Kemp (nee Dorman), beloved wife of John Eldon Kemp, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022, at the age of 68 years.

 

Wanda was born in Sooke, BC, on November 21, 1954. She moved to Calgary, AB, in 1977. She met and married Eldon Kemp on November 13, 1981, and recently celebrated their 41st anniversary this year. Wanda worked at many jobs, from a waitress to a bank teller. With her banking experience, Wanda loved balancing to the penny at any job! She worked as a temporary worker at downtown oil companies and other business’, such as Mark’s Work Wearhouse, during the 90s’.

 

She was a member of the Deer Run Community Association for over twenty-five years and Block Watch before then. She organized the Annual Fall Community free garbage pick up day for eleven years. Wanda handled getting grants from all levels of governments to enhance the Deer Run community. She volunteered at Casino Days for years, to get the community funds. Wanda accomplished much through her life and was particularly proud of these moments and achievements.

 

Wanda and Eldon travelled to many parts of the world throughout their married life, particularly enjoying Europe. Wanda’s most memorable vacation was when she and Eldon went to the south of Spain, loving it so much they went back three times! Wanda’s favourite singers were Elton John and Rod Stewart; she loved music from the 60s’, 70s’ and 80s’.

 

Wanda will be most remembered for her kindness to people. She adjusted well to meeting people and treated everyone as a friend. Wanda was a gentle soul that tried to find the good in all people and will be remembered by all who knew her as a person you could relate to. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband Eldon and all her many friends and family. As to Eldon, she was his “Magic Wand”.

 

Wanda is survived by her four brothers and their families, Gerry (Kim), daughter Brittany of Sidney, BC; Jimmy (Vonnie), two daughters, Christa, and Carly of Kamloops, BC; Rick, two sons Kevin, and Brian, and their families in Kelowna and Vanderhoof, BC; and Wes of Wetaskiwin, two daughters, Natasha, and Stephanie, and their families of Edmonton, AB. She is also survived by Randy’s sons, Alex of Philippines, and Andy of Washington State, and their families; sister-in-law Carolyn, brother-in-law David of Edmonton, AB, and son Jeff (girlfriend Gillian) of Calgary, AB. Wanda was predeceased by her parents Wilfred and Elaine; and her older brother Randy (Evette).
