Obituary of Teresita Saparco Lapina

 

October 3, 1942 – Philippines

January 6, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

 

Teresita Lapina of Calgary, AB passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023 at the age of 80 years. 

 

Tessie was born in Gen Trias, Cavite, Philippines on October 3, 1942.

 

She moved to Calgary, AB in 1994. She was a member of the Filipino Calgarian Seniors Association. Tessie accomplished much through her life and was particularly proud of raising six children on her own from a young age of 37.

 

Tessie loved weekly church trip to downtown with her friends. She was also a talented seamstress. She can make the dresses for the whole wedding entourage. This talent became her means of providing for her children.

 

Tessie’s most memorable vacation was when she went to Sydney, Australia. Tessie strongly believed in this Bible quote:  “Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever. – Psalm 136:26”. She will be most remembered for her great love and sweet smile.

 

Nanay’s life has been a blessing specially to those whose lives she touched, and her memories will be treasured forever. To us her children, she was the bond that kept us all together, she was the sun that shines on us everyday, with her unconditional love and support, rejoicing with our every success and uplifting during our trials, always a guiding hand and a comforting shoulder. 

 

Tessie is survived by her four daughters and four sons-in-law, Beth (Erik) Sinclair, Grace (Lito) Legaspi, Janet (Rommel) Harlea and Anna (Ricky) Velante; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Nelson (Maggie) and Roy; eight grandchildren, Melodie, Nicholas, Jan Guio, Janis, Jarome, Jeremie, Mariah, Jianina; five great-grandchildren, Shia, Sophia, Alyna, Aria, and Noah. Tessie is also survived by her two grand-pets Abby and Lala.

 

Tessie was predeceased by her son Jojo, parents Segunda Saparco and Balbino Saparco.

 

Our family would like to give special thanks to the Lord our God for allowing us the wonderful gift of sharing many beautiful years with Nanay.

 

We would like to thank many families, friends and relatives for all the prayers, the many caregivers including the staff at PLC Emergency Room, Unit 43 and the Dulcina Hospice staff and most of all the many families and friends who made sure she was not alone until her peaceful passing on Jan. 6.

 

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on- Tuesday January 17, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church (15 Templebow Road N.E., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 10:00 am. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
