Condolences
Todd. Sully. Toad. Homie...
You were like a big brother to me for so many years. I will always remember growing up just down the street from each other. When you would ride over on your Mongoose BMX to hang out with all the neighbourhood boys down the street in Strathcona. Being so young the two-year age difference between us made me feel like you were wise beyond your years at that time, or so it seemed. That was until I watched you walk up Strathcona hill with your roller blades and a metal pole in hand. I then proceeded to observe as you went full speed down the hill. Your knees bent, the pole dragging behind you, and a trail of sparks flying all over the place. All the while sporting that signature smile and laugh. I remember hanging out with you and your older brother Sean and I remember thinking how you two were the coolest guys to ever live. Haha. You looked up to your brother, as younger brothers often do... but the truly special part of that relationship was that even at such a young age, Sean never treated you as though you were beneath him or that he had better things to do than entertain you and your friends. He always looked out for you, enjoyed your company, and took you under his wing as best he could with endless love and support. As we grew into young men, we found common ground in some positive life experiences. Unfortunately, we shared some not-so-positive ones as well. No matter what the situation was you were always a good friend and would give the shirt off your back to me, your friends, or a stranger on the street if they needed it.
I feel super blessed to have met your mother Kelly, and gotten to know your brother Sean, and father Mike. I'll never forget how quickly and skillfully you did some of the renovations on your dad's house one summer with me and my minimal help. The look on your dad's face was priceless. When he came home expecting us to only have cleaned up the space we were working on, he was flabbergasted to find that you had set up a pulley system and already completely installed the upstairs window.
My heart goes out to your mom and dad but especially to your best friend and big brother Sean. Some people go a lifetime and never get the chance to experience that kind of love and connection.
Forever in my prayers and memories.
HOPE FAITH COURAGE.
See you again one day.
Your brother,
Michael Gonsalves
Thank you for this video, and for allowing me to hear your words and see all those beautiful photos. Todd was and will always be one of the most important pieces of my journey. I will continue to carry so many pieces of him in my heart forever. Sending love to his family, friends and his partner.
Thank you for the immense amount of support the family has received. They are truly touched by all of the love and support given and for all of the people who showed up or streamed his celebration.
So sorry for your loss, my heart has broken. Wishing you peace.
Mike and family, there are no words that I can say. I am so sorry for your loss.
