Condolences
We knew Ray through the food hamper program at St. Luke's. He was a dependable and enjoyable volunteer. We also knew him as a fellow attendee at the 8:30 Mass, as well as an "enemy", as he was a Stampeder, not a Roughrider, fan. We will miss him, but, of course, not nearly as much as his family.
My uncle was a kind and happy man and a hero to his sister Mildred. He loved his motorbike when he was younger and almost lost his sister off of the back of it while going much too fast. The Young family was one of the original families in Banff with their uncles serving as park wardens that lived in the backcountry. Uncle Ray loved his camping even if it was only as far away as the Happy Valley Campground which is now the community of Valley Ridge in Calgary. On one of the weekend days, my family would often go to wherever the campsite was for lunch and the afternoon, and the four cousins would play in the nearby creek. After Diane had passed, my uncle and I would meet for dinner once a month to stay in contact. Those were special times for me.
