Condolences
One of my fondest memories when teaching, was having the opportunity to work with an amazing staff who welcomed me with open arms at Edgemont Elementary.
Elaine was one of those incredible teachers whom I worked with, hand in hand, to help our new immigrant Hong Kong students to learn and adapt to Canadian culture. We both shared the same teaching philosophy, which included ( G-d forbid) teaching phonics. How we both connived, collaborated and laughed about our ingenious ‘methods’, while making sure we adhered to ‘acceptable’ teaching protocols at the time.
She was, and still remains, my mentor. I truly miss her and my sincere condolences to her beloved family.
May her memory forever be a blessing.
With warmest regards,
Lila Mydlarski
Miss Pitt gave me my start to education and I loved school because of her -- she was my Grade 1 teacher in Claresholm in 1954/1955. I thought she was so pretty but, oh, my how beautiful she was in her wedding dress. Little girls could only dream of such a lovely dress. Rest in Peace Mrs. Stewart.

My deepest sympathies to Elaine’s family who I know meant the world to her. Elaine and I would have the greatest chats in the hallways of Edgemont School many years ago when we both taught there. She was so friendly and welcoming when I first came there! I will always remember her wonderful smile and positive outlook when things would be getting us down. RIP Elaine. You made such a difference in children’s lives!
So sorry to hear of Elaine's passing. My heart goes out to the family that she obviously loved dearly. I remember Elaine through our connection at Knox United Church, in latter year via Knox on Zoom. She was a lovely person and cared deeply for and was proud of her family and that came through in our brief chats. She was an example of love. RIP
