Condolences
I would like to offer my sincere condolences to Hugh's family and friends. I have known Hugh since I was a young boy, when he worked for my Dad in the Melville OK Economy. We kept in touch through the years, and he really enjoyed talking about those old days. God give you courage and strength in the coming days.Rest easy, my friend.
We always enjoyed visiting with Hugh. Somewhat of a historian and us being raised in the Saltcoats area, we often discussed history relating to early homesteaders and ancestry. We enjoyed his disposition and there was always some good chuckles about one thing or another. He was an individual that was always on top of his game. We so enjoyed our annual Jowsey cousin Christmas luncheon, our last get together was one month prior to Hugh’s passing. He will be missed. Our condolences to his extended family.

We have many wonderful memories of Hugh. He enjoyed a trip to New Brunswick to see the house at Sussex Corner where his horse racing ancestor, Hugh McMonagle lived. Later Hugh visited Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby. He beautifully restored his family’s Farmall tractor. He was a very kind man who looked out for his family and friends and we will miss him very much!

Hugh was a great friend of the entire Ward family. He enjoyed cheering for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the stands with my father, (never leaving until the last play of the game). He always made the entire family feel welcome and found the time to share phone calls with my mother. Their discussions included the crops, of course, their yearly gardens and his many trips to Yorkton or to the states. His warm and gentle nature will be missed by all.

It was an honor for me to know Hugh. He was always very interested in and supportive of the activities of my family. I learned much from him about life in Saskatchewan and the rest of Canada. My wife, Sheila Jowsey-Gregoire, loved to visit with him about how things were going in his life, in Canada, and in the world. Plus, when we visited him, he always made for us a nice meatloaf dinner, in his home or our home.
