Obituary of Marion Lillian Nesdoly

Marion Nesdoly (nee Lovig), of Calgary, AB passed away on Wednesday January 18, 2023, at the age of 86 years.

Marion was a loving wife, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was particularly proud of her role as a devoted mother of her four children. She was a member of the Taking Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) group, worked for the Women in Need Society (WINS) and volunteered with the Calgary Society for Persons with Disabilities (CSPD).

Marion enjoyed volleyball, dancing, camping, fishing, board games, country music, bingo tournaments, crafts, hockey and curling. She also loved to cook and spend time harvesting her amazing garden. Marion’s most memorable vacations include a remote heli-fishing adventure, recreational vehicle camping and road-trips to Nevada and California USA.

Marion’s favourite saying was "We never know what tomorrow may bring so live this life to the fullest and be grateful for everything that we have.” She will be most remembered for her kindness, generosity, happiness, and laughter.

Marion is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law; Dianne and Ted Shantz of Calgary, AB; Debbie and Greg McMahon of Riverview, NB; and one son and daughter-in-law; Dr. Dennis Nesdoly and Dr. Pamela Downey of Calgary, AB; her six grandchildren, Shannon, Meghan, Moira, Rory, Sean and Parker; and her nine great-grandchildren, Amelia, Adrian, Ava, William, Callen, Freya, Sören, Donovan, and Logan. Marion was predeceased by her husband Victor Nesdoly, daughter Donna Fay Nesdoly, and two grandchildren, Tricia and Jason.

She has left many loved ones—family and friends.  May we all cherish her in our hearts.

A Memorial Service will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, February 4, 2023 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared here. The family would like to thank the Foothills Emergency Department staff, and the AgeCare Seton Mackenzie West staff.

In living memory of Marion Nesdoly, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area.
