Celebration of Life
Condolences
Dear Patrick's family and friends,
I am deeply saddened by the passing of Patrick. My heart goes out to you.
My name is Lizzy Whitehouse, a friend and lab partner of Patrick's from the College of the Rockies. Unfortunately I couldn't attend Patrick's celebration of life today. I am comforted by the stories and memories told today, what a fitting and wonderful tribute.
I first met Patrick in the lecture theatre at the College of the Rockies and we quickly became friends (probably because everyone else was over 10 years younger than us)! We took Biology and Chemistry together and I would make him help me with my upgrading math - he was a calculus wizard. We would joke about "getting a room" because this genuinely meant booking a room. Only it was a study room in the library. Many an hour were spent him teaching me chemistry and I would teach him biology. I got in a car accident, car was wrecked and I was hurt. He supported me through a really tough time, driving me to school, making me smoothies and giving me all sorts of healthy random things to make me feel better. Patrick and I were lab partners in chemistry and microbiology and he carried me with his natural talent. We had a lot of fun together in science.
The last time I saw Patrick we went for chai tea in nelson. He talked of finishing his bachelor's in chemistry. I suggested he join me on the west Kootenay teaching programme so we could run a science department together, we laughed and laughed.
I'm now in the midst of my teaching practicum for high school science. I know Patrick will be with me to help me teach chemistry like he did for me. He will help me to share and the wonder of science with others.
Patrick was one of a kind, a bright star, a trusty lab partner and even better friend. I will miss Patrick. Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

To Patrick's family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I met Patrick in 2020 through my work with Interior Health. Since then, Patrick was involved in many projects, initiatives and committees focused on improving healthcare for people who use substances. Patrick brought countless ideas and insights forward that resulted in very real changes to how we support and care for people. He guided, shaped and inspired new programs and services and new ways of approaching this area of healthcare support and treatment. Patrick's contributions saved lives and will continue to save lives. I cherish every long phone call I had with Patrick, every meeting, every zoom. I was always moved by his deep kindness and compassion, his spirituality, sense of connection and wonder. It was a joy to work with Patrick. I miss him. It is rare to meet someone as special as Patrick. His passion, advocacy, intellect, creativity and gift of finding the words when no one else can, made a large and lasting impression across multiple teams and leaders at Interior Health. I learned so much from him and will continue to implement his teachings. Thank you for raising such a beautiful and loving person. You are all in my thoughts.
Warmly,
Alison Kyte

My sincere condolences to Ross, Diane, and Mike & Monica on your loss of a Son and Brother. I feel very fortunate to have known Patrick and spent time with him in his early 20's.
The Patrick I got to know was vivacious, witty, had boundless energy, and cared deeply about his fellow man, especially the have-nots and the underdog. Patrick on more than one occasion made me consider my actions and I know I am a better person because of him. Thanks Pat.
Love Adam
HI Patrick's family. I was in treatment with Patrick back in 2018, and I remember seeing his mom and dad at his one year, and I believe his brother was there too. I had the privilege of becoming good friends with Patrick & I helped when he last left Top of the World Ranch. I had dinner with him right before he left Cranbrook his last time.
I am so sorry for your loss. Patrick helped me so much in my recovery. We often went to the hot springs, and chatted on the phone. I will greatly miss him as I am sure you will too.
I have been praying for your family
