Obituary of Margery May GREGG

March 8, 1922 – Corning, California April 11, 2018- Calgary Alberta Margery Gregg passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the age of 96 years. Margery was born in Corning California in 1922 and led a long and happy life. She attended the University of California, Berkeley where she received a degree in Political Science. It was at Berkeley that Margery met her husband Jack, a Canadian studying Petroleum Engineering. In 1944, they moved back to Canada initially to Patricia, Alberta then to Edmonton and eventually settling in Calgary. Over the years Margery & Jack made Calgary their home. In addition to being a mother to six rambunctious boys Margery was an avid hiker, gardener, bird watcher, voracious reader and enjoyed spending time at the family farm, “Greggwood”. To her friends and family, Margery will be remembered as a good listener and a great friend. Margery is survived by her six sons, Bill (Colleen), Bob, David, Brian (Ann), Stephen (Tara), and Alan (Cheryl); five grandchildren, Beth, Patrick, Ben, Eric, and Rosemary and her niece Susan (David) Baylis and Jon Brandt. Margery was predeceased by husband Jack Gregg, brother Charles and sister-in-law Erma Brandt. Please join family and friends for a memorial service followed by a reception to be held at Red Deer Lake United Church, 96187 Hwy 22X, Foothills No. 31, AB, T1S 2R9 on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. Donations can be made in Margery’s name to the Foothills Land Trust at (foothillslandtrust.org.)
