Lindsay Loudoun

Obituary of Lindsay Scott Loudoun

October 1, 1951 – Edmonton, Alberta

October 2, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, brother, cousin and friend on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the age of 68 years old. Lindsay passed away peacefully surrounded by his children at Agapé Hospice after a five-year cancer journey, through which he showed his incredible strength, tenacity, and grace.

As a practicing horticulturist, Lindsay had a passion for all things nature and was particularly talented in landscaping and gardening. Throughout his life, Lindsay worked outside and was a walking encyclopedia for anything plant, animal, or nature related. Most recently, and even throughout his entire cancer journey, he showcased his gift of a green thumb at Smugglers Inn, where he impressed many with his stunning gardening abilities. One of Lindsay's favourite places was Blue Rock in Sheep River Provincial Park in Alberta. He often took his three kids, packed with a picnic and fishing supplies, and always made sure there was a campfire. These special trips continued right up until the recent months of Lindsay’s life.

Lindsay will be greatly missed by his three children Andrew, Carly (Roger), and Ainsley; his two brothers, Greg (Marilyn) and Mark (Linda); and by all who knew him. Lindsay was predeceased by his parents Muriel “Bonnie” Loudoun and Norman Loudoun.

A casual gathering in Lindsay’s honour will be held on Thursday, October 10 at 1918 Tap & Table Restaurant, as part of the Royal Canadian Legion on Kensington Road. Everyone is welcome to drop by at 1:30 p.m. for a drink and small bite. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

We would like to thank the staff and volunteers at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and Foothills Medical Centre for their advocacy and support, as well as Agapé Hospice for providing peace, dignity, and many smiles in his final days.
