Obituary of Gary Wayne Shulz

October 3, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Gary Shulz beloved husband of Barbara Anne Shulz (nee Taylor) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the age of 85 years.

Gary was born in Viking, AB and at an early age moved to Calgary where he spent his first years of schooling.  He moved to his father’s farm out of Port Albernie, BC with his father Jacob Shulz and his sister Gloria where he completed High School.  

Gary joined the RCMP in 1953 and was stationed in eleven postings during his twenty-two year career.  After retiring from the RCMP, he worked as Head of Security for CIBC, Atco and Remington.

He loved nature and spent many hours walking and enjoying Fish Creek Park, which he has lived beside for the last nineteen years.    Gary enjoyed travelling extensively with Barb, his wife of thirty-five years. They visited many countries, their favorite spot being Maui.

Gary enjoyed spending time with his family and, in addition to his wife Barb, he leaves behind his sons, Tim Shulz (Lela), Dave Shulz and Chris Shulz (Linda); stepson Brent Bedford (Shelley); and stepdaughter Carie Bedford ( Dave); nine grandchildren, Dustin Shulz (Samantha), Lucas Shulz, Jackson Shulz, Renee Shulz, Zac Bedford, Robyn Bedford, Corbin Smith (Starlene), Brooklyn Smith (Ryan) and Rae-Anna Smith. Gary adored his older sister Gloria, who recently  passed away September 6, 2019.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Southern Alberta Pioneer Lodge (3625 4 Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.  Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
