Richard Flamenco of Calgary, AB passed away on Friday, October 4, 2019 at the age of 24 years.

Richard accomplished much throughout his life and was particularly proud of his painted helmet for Canadian luger Sam Edney through Helmets for Heroes, the bear helmet "Fierce" was worn in Sam's first podium placing of gold. He was also proud of being nominated by Darrel Janz as one of the "Inspiring Albertans" recipients, and the debut of his first art exhibit at the Alberta Children's Hospital, at which he donated his proceeds to the Children's Miracle Network.

Richard’s hobbies included water color art, and gaming. He was passionate about his family, art, and being an avid Mario and Luigi fan.

Richard’s most memorable vacation was the trip he took to Disneyworld in 2010 through the Make a Wish Foundation. He will be most remembered for being an incredible inspiration to others.

Richard is survived by his parents, Ricardo and Danni-Lynn from Calgary; his sister Sara-Kay, and grandfather Daniel Van Norman of Calgary. He is also survived by his aunties, Sydney, Natalie and Haydee; his uncles, Kevin, Chad, Alfredo and Jorge; cousins Kyle, Koby, Cameron, Wade, Harry, Ottoniel, Roberto, and Aida; and a large extended family. Richard was predeceased by Nana Kay and Mama Tonita.

Celebration of Richard’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
