Obituary of Raymond Frederick DOBBERTHIEN

August 13, 1927 – Gull Lake, Saskatchewan

October 7, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Raymond Dobberthien, beloved husband of Marrianne Dobberthien (nee Armstrong) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019 at the age of 92 years.  Ray was born in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan on August 13, 1927.

Ray was a “Hound” from Notre Dame College in Wilcox, SA, graduating in 1953 with a Bachelor of Arts. He then attended St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, NS, where he obtained a Bachelor of Education. Ray worked at Dowell Canada, Dome Petroleum, and Amoco Canada, ending his career as the Manager of Safety. He spent his free time playing golf, volunteering at Fort Calgary and for the Notre Dame Alumni association.

Ray is survived by his loving wife Marrianne, his children and their spouses, Jane, Carol, Lynn, Patrick and Lynn, Sue, and Mike and Liz; and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Meagan, Candace, Kurtis, Kolby, Zach, Jenna, Mikayla, Johnathon, Joshua and Matthew.  Ray was predeceased by his son John, his daughter Marion, his brother Jack, and his sisters, Verna and Kay.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (10827 – 24th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 10:30 a.m.  Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.   If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to a charity of your choice. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
