Obituary of Yosef KHUSENSKY

February 18, 1937 - October 9, 2019

 

Yosef Khusensky beloved husband of Alevtina Popova of Calgary, AB passed away at home on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at the age of 82. He is also survived by his daughter Marina (Dave) Girvitz and grandson Daniel Girvitz all of Calgary.

 

Yosef was born on February 18, 1937 in Belarus SSR. His parents both died during the war and he survived in an evacuation camp near the Ural Mountains. His childhood was full of the exceptional hardships of the time. After the war, he was accepted to the university in Leningrad (St. Petersburg) and earned a degree in German. He was then assigned to be a German Teacher in a school in Tumeng, Siberia. There he met his future wife Alevtina. They were married in 1962.  Marina was born in 1964. After a couple of years, the family decided to move to Minsk. There he worked as a translator of German Scientific Papers into Russian for many years. In 1994, the family declared Aliyah and moved to Israel. In December 2007, he once again moved to Calgary to be with his daughter and grandson. Here he lived a life of quiet retirement.

 

Funeral Services will be held at the Beth Tzedec Memorial Park (122 Shalom Way SE, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.
