Obituary of Raymond Joseph Robinson
March 14, 1959 – North Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia
August 24, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of our precious family member and friend, Joe Robinson on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the age of 65 years, after a quick and bravely fought battle with cancer. Joe went peacefully, in his sleep, after his devoted family gave him a bite of pizza, a sip of beer and a kiss goodnight, Cape Breton style.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife and love of his life, Marina (nee Porter), sons, John Joseph and Michael; brothers, Rob and Steve; and sisters, Karen (Evan) and Christine (Gord). He is also survived by his two granddaughters, Jacqueline and Belle, the joys of his life, along with many nieces and nephews. In Joe’s life, his in-laws were an extension of his immediate family – Gary, Brenda, Greg, Aggie, Brent, Carson, Curtis, Rosemary, David and Sherry, and Noel and Jim will also miss him.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, George and Muriel Robinson; mother and father-in-law, Marg Porter and Duncan White; maternal grandparents, John and Eva Robinson; paternal grandparents, Henry and Rachel Witherall; sisters-in-law, Gail Porter and Joanne Porter; and his nephew Colin Porter.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says,
“Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times,
the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived
while I was strong.
Continue my heritage,
I’m counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely
the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease,
my soul is at rest.
Remembering all,
how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions,
no matter how small.
Go on with your life,
don’t worry about falls.
I miss you all dearly,
so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes
we’re together again.”
