Obituary of Diane Dmytryshyn

Diane Dmytryshyn (nee King), beloved wife of Edward Dmytryshyn, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the age of 81 years.

Diane was born in Edmonton, AB, on December 4, 1943. She was raised by resourceful, hard-working, artistic, animal-loving parents. With youthful confidence, she married Edward in 1962 and went on to give birth to and raise four children: Kelly, Todd, Bradley, and Timothy. 

Diane’s ambitions and energy led her back into the workforce to contribute both to the family and society initially as an employee and later as a business owner. She established Calgary Community Day Services providing positive support and activities for adults with disabilities until her dying days. Her son Timothy and daughter-in-law Cathy will now carry on her legacy.

Diane was particularly proud of her children and grandchildren, annually hosting family gatherings. She was a lifetime dog owner/lover. Her hobbies included artwork—such as watercolours, acrylic pouring, macrame, and woven creations.

Special recognition to the Southwood Hospice who made her final days joyous and pain-free.

A Memorial Service will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB) on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.  Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.

Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Dmytryshyn’s service streamed live (see link below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
