Obituary of Harry William Boyd Grimm

June 5, 1952 – Shellbrook, Saskatchewan

December 2, 2024 – Didsbury, Alberta

Harry William Boyd Grimm of Carstairs, AB, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024, at the age of 72 years, with both of his children present.

Harry was born in Shellbrook, SK, on June 5, 1952. He moved to Calgary, AB, in 1956. He married Patricia Lynne Brown in 1973 and adopted Lynne’s son, Gary Lee Wade; they were blessed with Trishia Anne Irene in 1975.

Harry was kind, generous, and loved with his whole heart. He was also stubborn, and really liked things his way. He had an interesting definition of “shortcuts,” but we eventually got to where we were going.

Harry loved life. He enjoyed camping, spending time with his family and friends, playing a game of pool, and playing cards and dice. He made friends along his path and struck up conversations with anyone who would listen. He especially enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and loved all animals, with a special spot for his dog Booboo.

His most memorable vacations were to Mexico and Jamaica, and especially Cuba, where he loved the old cars.

Harry is survived by his son Wade (Susan) Grimm; daughter Trishia Perreault (Serge); their mother Lynne; his grandchildren, Travis, Riley, Spencer, Tony, Athena (Domanic), Alcina (Simon), Alyson, and Donna; as well as his great-grandchildren, Hope, Cole, Daytona, and King.

He is also survived by his brothers, Terry (Klaaske), Tom (Lori), and Richard (Cheryl); sisters, Louise, Jackie (Dexter), Wendy, Nonie, Charleen (Paul), and Rieta; sister-in-law Shannon McCarron (Ken), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Harry was predeceased by his parents, Charlie (1991) and Elma (2000) Grimm; brother Earl (1938); sister Winnie (2017); sisters-in-law, Lori (2004) and Bernice (2017); brothers-in-law, Shawn (2009), Brent (2023), George (2024), Doug (1981), Dave (2004), and Dave (2016); mother-in-law Irene (1998), and father-in-law George (2008).

Memorial Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway Airdrie, AB (Airdrie, 300 Towerlane Drive) on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.

Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Grimm’s service streamed live (link to come) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
