Marion Turnbull

Obituary of Marion Loretta Turnbull

October 15, 1935 – Swift Current, Saskatchewan

December 11, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Marion on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the age of 89 years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Keith Turnbull, her parents, four sisters, and three brothers. Marion will be greatly missed by sisters Joyce Hazel, Sheila Nicholas, and Jean McManus, her brother David Orr and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Marion was born in Swift Current, SK, and lived at the family farm until 1950. She moved to the nearby town of Ponteix, SK, with her mom and two sisters until the passing of her father in 1955, then on to Moose Jaw and finally to Calgary, AB, in 1958.

Marion married Keith in 1963 and lived in Ottawa for a short time before returning to Calgary where she enjoyed her home, her time as an office worker and mostly her family and friends. In the early 1990s, Marion and Keith returned to Claresholm, AB, where they helped her brother Jack Orr and his wife Monica with their store and shared time with her sister Madeline and her husband Jerry. They spent a few years in Creston, BC, with her brother Cecil Orr and wife Audrey, sojourning to Mesa, AZ, in the winter months. They settled back in Claresholm until Keith’s passing in 2021.

Marion loved life and was involved in her community. She was also an artist and spent countless hours painting, home decorating, sewing, writing poetry and short stories and trying her hand with crafts such as stained-glass work. She was a reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a formidable opponent of Scrabble.

Marion’s joy for life and all it had to offer was contagious. She laughed readily, gave care and support willingly, and opened her sentimental heart lovingly. She is already sadly missed.

Thanks go out to the wonderful staff at Amica Aspen Woods and Aspira Britannia for their kind and caring ways.
