Obituary of Rebecca Terrice Cyr
September 28, 1987 – Regina, Saskatchewan
December 25, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Rebecca Cyr of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at the age of 37 years.
Rebecca was born in Regina, SK, on September 28, 1987, and in 2018 she moved to Calgary, AB.
She graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) with a degree in Baking and Pastry Arts.
Rebecca accomplished much throughout her life and was particularly proud of the baking and pastry arts program she completed, as well as the cooking courses that she took through the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (SIAST). Rebecca enjoyed and had a passion for baking and pastry art and had worked at numerous places, including bakeries, golf country clubs, and catering.
Rebecca cherished travelling to cities for concerts. Her most memorable concert was when she saw Linkin Park in Winnipeg, MB. She also talked about the KISS concert that she attended with her late brother Joel. She loved going on road trips with her children including a Calgary and BC trip she went on with her mother, brothers, partner, and children.
She will be most remembered for her calm and empathetic self. She always loved and cared for those she crossed paths with. She loved spending time with her children and partner, which took up most of her time. She had a strong passion for baking and always loved baking new things and would often bake fancy cakes for her children’s birthdays. Rebecca was also a very talented chef; she would always be looking for new recipes for her family. Supper time was always family time.
Besides her loving partner, Andrew Shannacappo, Rebecca is survived by her two daughters, nineteen-year-old Amira and nine-year-old Ellise; and her two sons, seventeen-year-old Dominic and thirteen-year-old Miles.
Rebecca is also survived by her brother, Alex Cyr, of Regina, SK, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She also had so many cousins who were close to her as she grew up, she considered them her brothers and sisters.
Rebecca was predeceased by her mother Haley Cyr, her father Colin Netmaker, her brother Joel Cyr, and her grandmother Maureen Cyr.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Calgary Crematorium, 3219 – 4th Street NW, Calgary, AB, within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
