Obituary of Jeannette Darlene Strickland
November 28, 1950 – Dauphin, Manitoba
December 27, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Jeannette Strickland, beloved wife of the late John Stuffco, and her former spouse Ralph Strickland, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at the age of 74 in Calgary, AB.
Born in Dauphin, MB, on November 28, 1950, Jeannette always had a passion for details and loved to decorate and design. She spent 18 years working at Overwaitea Food Group and their subsidiary; Save-on-Foods, but she always wished she had pursued a career in nursing.
In her free time, she enjoyed reading, spending time with her beloved pets, Trixie, Keisha, and Abigail, and lending an ear to a friend. One of her proudest achievements was obtaining her driver's license at the age of 40.
Jeannette had a love for travel and visited Maui numerous times, making many memorable vacation memories.
She will be deeply missed by her son Quinn Strickland (Janine Horsely), daughters, Tracy Sawchyn and Sherry Strickland; her grandsons, Taylor Strickland (Rosie Rousselle) and Dylan Strickland (Alexis Strickland); as well as her great-grandchildren, "Future Babies A&B and Baby E".
She is survived by her brother Patrick Woychik, and sisters, Frances Pavlin (Joseph Pavlin) and Shirley Britsky (Gary Britsky).
Jeannette's parents, John and Nellie Woychik; and grandparents, Michael and Katherine Marych, have all predeceased her.
The family wishes to hold a private event to scatter her remains at her favourite spot in the Kootenays.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses at South Health Campus for their patience and care of Jeannette, as well as the compassionate teams at Southwood Hospice for making her last few weeks peaceful and lovely.
Jeannette will be remembered for her generosity, her wit, and her willingness to listen. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and held so dear."
