Obituary of Jason Ray Cunningham
April 6, 1972 – Lillooet, British Columbia
December 27, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Jason Ray Cunningham, a beloved husband, father figure, brother, and uncle, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, in Calgary, AB, at the age of 52. His life journey began in Lillooet, BC, where he was born on April 6, 1972. His path would eventually lead him to Calgary, AB, where he built his life and family.
Love found Jason in 2001 while working at Sanmina in Calgary, AB, where he met Criselda, the woman who would become his wife. Their romance blossomed into a beautiful wedding in Santa Clara, Cuba, in June 2011, surrounded by family and close friends.
Jason's greatest gift was his enormous capacity to love. He embraced the father figure role to four children with open arms and an open heart, becoming an irreplaceable presence in their lives. His dedication showed in every event attended, every milestone celebrated, and every moment of guidance offered. Whether providing wise counsel, sharing tough love when needed, or simply lending a helping hand, Jason's commitment to his family never wavered.
Jason found joy in the ocean depths as an exceptional swimmer and had a passion for snorkelling, and scuba diving. His professional life at Attabotics reflected his love for innovation and complex robotics, a passion that extended to his home life, where he delighted in building intricate Lego creations. His gentle spirit was perhaps most evident in his deep connection with his beloved dogs, Tobi and Gaston, who preceded him in death but remained forever in his heart.
Jason leaves behind a legacy of love carried on by his devoted wife Criselda, his cherished stepchildren and their spouses, Wally (Christine), Kristina (Rodney), Genevieve (Curtney), and Jade (Luis); his beloved grandchildren, Maliah, Jacob, Marcus, Luca, Noah, Safiyya, Taliah, Gia, and Harley; his siblings, Kim and Steven; and his nephew Bryce. Each of them carries a piece of his kind and generous spirit.
He was predeceased by his parents, David and Sandra Cunningham.
Only in loss,
do we understand value.
Tears are the words,
we cannot speak,
of the pain and shock of what has
happened and the loss of whatever will.
Our mourning is our love,
unable to reach you.
We miss the future,
you were supposed to have.
Our grief changes over time,
but never will it end.
