Obituary of Andrew Yui Ming Ko

December 29, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Andrew Yui Ming Ko of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the age of 73 years.

Andrew was born in Hong Kong, China, on August 3, 1951. He emigrated from Hong Kong in 1970 and graduated from the University of Manitoba with a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

In 1980, Andrew married Alethea Chow, and they moved to Calgary, AB, in 1982. 

He will be most remembered for his kindness towards every living being. Andrew enjoyed playing badminton, and as a devoted Christian, he went to Calgary Chinese Alliance Church.

Andrew’s most memorable vacation was cruising with his family to Alaska on "Legend of the Seas" in 1995. 

Andrew’s favourite saying was, "Work hard and live humbly."

Andrew is survived by two older sisters and a younger brother. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law and numerous nephews and nieces.

Andrew was predeceased by his loving wife, Alethea Chow, and two brothers.

Memorial Service will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery (3157 Erlton Street SW, Calgary, AB).
