Obituary of Arnold Simeon

January 9, 1944 – Mînî Thnî, Alberta

December 31, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

 

The family of Arnold Simeon is saddened to announce his sudden passing on December 31, 2024, at the age of 80 years at Carewest Colonel Belcher Long-Term Care.

 

He was the fourth child of Herman and Mildred Simeon. Arnold was described by many as honest, humorous, giving, helpful, serious, and humble. He was a good friend to all who knew him. He attended residential school in Mînî Thnî. During his youth, he participated in rodeos, riding saddle broncs, and breaking in horses. Arnold was the founder of the Silver Spur Rodeo Club in Mînî Thnî. He worked for Lafarge in Exshaw, AB, and held various other jobs.

 

Arnold is survived by his sister, Connie (Ed) Holloway, as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His cousins Joey (Laverne) and Lana Kootenay, Dean Simeon, Harry (Karen) Wildman, Keith (Lois) Simeon, Ralph Simeon, Winston Simeon, Kathleen Poucette, Clarice Kootenay, Marie (Simeon) Bullbear; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Twoyoungmen, brother-in-law, Lawrence Crawler, adopted children Darcy (Kathy) Dixon, Bruce Dixon, Debbie Dixon, Tammy Dixon, Corrina Dixon, and by numerous other relatives, and friends.

 

Arnold was predeceased by parents, Herman and Mildred Simeon, Auntie Helen (Kootenay) Scalplock, brothers Graham, Clark, Walton, Harold, Herman Jr. and Richard (Pam) Louis; adopted son Tom Dixon, nephew Randy, sisters Doreen, Charlotte, Olive, Linda and Julie; and by his cousin Hanson Twoyoungmen, Hugh Twoyoungmen, and Audrey Twoyoungmen; his grandparents, Joseph (Mary) Kootenay, and David Simeon; uncles, Walter (Alma) Simeon, Jack (Cinderella) Simeon, Harold (Winnie) Simeon Sr. and Douglas Joe (Ruth) Kootenay Sr., and by numerous other relatives and friends.

 

The family would like to thank the staff at the Carewest Colonel Belcher Long-Term Care and Stoney Homecare.

 

Wake Services will be held at the Residence of Connie and Ed Holloway (Mînî Thnî, AB) on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, and Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

 

Funeral Services will be held at Bearspaw Youth Centre (Mînî Thnî, AB) on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 11:00 am. Graveside Services to follow at Chiniki Cemetery (Mînî Thnî, AB).
