Obituary of George Marquand Thomas-Brothers

November 18, 2013 – Halifax, Nova Scotia

January 2, 2025 – Calgary, Alberta

Far, far too soon, George Thomas-Brothers, of Calgary, AB, passed away, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the impossibly young age of 11 years. His mom Kate, dad Steve, and older brother Oliver are heartbroken by George’s loss.

George was born in Halifax, NS, on November 18, 2013, and joined his family in migrating west to Calgary the following year. George was an immensely special child right from the get-go. He faced his unique challenges with a cheeky, twinkle-eyed grin, a room filling brightness, and a wicked laugh that he deployed with devastating comic timing at the most appropriately inappropriate moments.

George loved his family and was at his very best during our many gatherings and get-togethers when everything was noisy and bright, full of laughing, boisterous voices, and the chaotic abundance of life.

Beyond his family, too, George was loved by everyone who crossed his path. To know George was to be cheered by the gift of his joy. All of us will have, in quiet or dark moments, the comfort of many cherished examples of George’s generous, exuberant, infectious charm and frank warmth.

George’s precious memory is celebrated by his parents and brother, grandparents, uncles and aunts, cousins, friends, and caregivers.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Bowness Ratepayers Scout and Guide Hall (8551 Bowness Rd. NW, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable, casual, bright-coloured clothing
